Self-Awareness Strategies
These are meant for you to begin implementing into your life in any capacity you feel called to. Remember small victories are all victories. So set your self up for success.
1. Incorporate a Mindfulness Meditation routine: Regular mindfulness meditation practice helps develop self-awareness by training your mind to focus on the present moment. This can take place in many ways. Walking mediation is proven to be as impactful as sitting meditation. If you are new to this, is it not about turning all thoughts off in your mind. Instead it is about being AWARE of them. Allowing them in and back out again. You can even keep a journal with you and acknowledge these thoughts as they come up in there to later address. A personal favourite is to mediate in the shower. I put on subliminal, frequency music or often symphony music and envision white or gold light coming from the shower. It is very therapeutic!
2. Journaling: Writing down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can help you identify patterns, gain insights, and develop a better understanding of yourself. This practice is so powerful when you can bring all your senses into your practice. I love creating a Desire list & working with the energies that come up. Also in addition when feeling ‘stuck’ a Gratitude list can shift that energy rather quickly. You can start with the basics, I am so grateful now that I have breath in my lungs.
3. Self-Inquiry: Schedule regular time for self-inquiry. A time to dig into your desires. Get clear with questions like
"What am I grateful for?"
"What am I proud of?"
"What can I improve on?"
“What do I truly desire”
4. Dig into you Human Design chart. This will provide you with clarity in all areas of your life. It really gives you permission to be the most authentic version - aligned with your soul! For more information on this we have resources. 1 on 1 sessions and an Ebook to knowing the basics linked HERE
Self-Reflection Strategies
1. Schedule Reflection Time: This is so important ! Set aside dedicated time for self-reflection, whether daily, weekly, or monthly. I suggest all o the above. Honour yourself and what you need in these moments. Use the daily time to make mental note of what went well in your day and where there may have been room for improvements. Use the weekly time to set yourself up for success for the upcoming week. What are you goals? Desires? What does your soul require? I recommend your monthly check be a time for gratitude for the wins & goal setting for the upcoming moments.
2. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness, understanding, and patience during self-reflection. Having Grace for yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.
3. Examine Your Thoughts, Emotions & behaviors. This will help to identify patterns, triggers, and areas that may arise for improvement. Again keeping a journal can help shed on light on these areas. The goal is to become aware - not to judge.
4. Reframe Negative Self-Talk: This is a behaviour that becomes very toxic to our subconscious mind. Challenge negative self-talk by reframing unhelpful thoughts into more balanced and compassionate ones. Each time to catch yourself, practice Grace and reframe that thought. The more we rewire our brains to go to the good the quicker we can shift these thoughts. It is process, but it soon will become natural.
5. Always, always always celebrate your wins! I always say small victories are all victories. When we celebrate the small wins the universe rewards us with bigger and bigger! Big or Small celebrate them all !
Additional Tips
1. Practice Gratitude: Focus on the things you're grateful for, which can help shift your perspective and increase self-awareness. In each moment as it happens you can become more aware. If someone holds a door open - think my gosh that was kind.
2. Engage in Activities That Promote your Self-Awareness: This can be in the form of yoga, tai chi, pottery, music. Really any mindfulness practices can help cultivate self-awareness and self-reflection.
3. Seek Out New Experiences: Engaging in new experiences, challenges, and learning opportunities will help to broaden your perspective and increase self-awareness. Even something as small as the change of your coffee shop could bring new energy.
4. Be Patient and Persistent: Cultivating self-awareness and self-reflection takes time, effort, and patience. Be gentle with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way.
5. When you receive a compliment - RECEIVE IT. Often times it is human nature to respond with one in return. This is not necessary. Just say Thank - you & receive it.
